If you haven’t checked out the latest Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.3) VM template, it can be found at:

Oracle VM Template – 11.2.0.3 – 64 bit

Oracle VM Template – 11.2.0.3 – 32 bit

The 11gR2 templates are linked on OTN at:

However, if your looking for the 11gR2 (11.2.0.3) Oracle VM template, it requires you have access to My Oracle Support. Only customers with support can download the 11.2.0.3 under the patch number 11836831

The latest installment of the Oracle VM 11gR2 (11.2.0.2.2) is now available via My Oracle Support under Patch number 11836831.

Oracle’s new 11.2.0.2.2 templates add some new exciting features such as the following found in My Oracle Support Document  1185244.1:

  • Building N-node clusters, not just 2 or 4 nodes
  • Mix and match OS (OL5U4/5/6) and Oracle RAC disks
  • Support role separation or non-role separation installation
  • Oracle RAC install can run as root or grid/oracle (with sudo configured on one node)
  • Fully automated network & disk setup, including directly from Dom0 (automated dom0 build)
  • Fully automated add/remove N-nodes or instances
  • Fully automated ACFS FS creation/removal
  • Fully automated EM dbconsole creation/removal
  • Allow running in non-English Guest VMs (German, Italian, etc.)

Once there, under ‘Select a Product Pack’, pick Oracle VM Templates, and under ‘Platform’ pick your achitecture, 32 bit or 64 bit. Then look for the template labeled: Oracle VM Templates for Oracle RAC 11gR2 Media Pack v1 for x86 (32 bit) or Oracle VM Templates for Oracle RAC 11gR2 Media Pack v1 for x86_64

However, if your looking for the 11gR2 (11.2.0.2) Oracle VM template, it requires you have access to My Oracle Support. Only customers with support can download the 11.2.0.2 under the patch number 10113572

If you want to know more about how the templates work and have access to Oracle OpenWorld on Demand, once logged in go to the search navigation bar and type ‘Oracle VM Best Practices’, once there you will find our (Saar Maoz and Roger Lopez) session presentation slide deck as well as audio to accompany the slide deck.
